Free Writing on Video

This video recorded on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” speaks about CBS news’ idea that each time the word ‘nigger’ is written in the book “Adventures of Huckle Berry Finn” with the word ‘Slave.’ Both John Stewart and his guest argue against the idea that editing the original text is inappropriate due to the fact that if we edit one aspect of the book, that opens the door to edit other aspects of the book which completely gets rid of the original meaning put forth by the book. They also point out that editing the text to say ‘slave’ every time the word nigger is said is not much of an improvement. They point out that the word nigger is a general statement to black people while slave is just a job description that therefore makes editing the text seems invalid and obsolete.
