MWP #2 Intro
The unemployment rate is a major term that needs to be understood in order to fully take in the article and what it stands for. The rate is currently at 8.1, which means 8.1% of the population of these United States is currently out of work. This takes a major toll on the economy, which is a major reason it has a huge affect on the Election this year. The fact of the matter is that the president controls how many jobs are available, yes, but he cannot force people of the general public to find them. I for one could find another job in a heartbeat if I wanted to whether it be working at the hospital or working at McDonald’s. The president also cannot control a person’s ability to meet the criteria for the job itself. So in a way yes, the president does control the unemployment rate, but unless there are absolutely no jobs available I don’t believe that the President should be held responsible. Another key term that needs to be understood in this article is ‘Campaign strategy.’ Obviously this stands for the strategy of campaigning from both candidate, but it needs to be understood that this not only includes their debate tactics, it includes their campaign ads on television, their political views on major topics, their strategy to displaying those views, and how often it is emphasized throughout the political landscape. Both Obama and Romney differ in their political strategies but they both are similar in a way that they base their strategies based on the principle idea of pleasing the public that will be voting for them.
